If the sizes of the connectors are same, we can carefully slide out the connecting pins from its socket by pressing down the locking pin with a needle. Then reinsert it in proper place matching the mother board. I have done that many times. If the size of the connector does not match, slide out all the pins and reinsert it on a suitable blank connector picked up from junk or bought.
