Sorry, dear! I could not follow what exactly you want to know! 7805 is not a transistor, it is a 5V regulator IC. Transformers are protected from higher current drawn through fuses and to certain extent, voltage surge results in excessive current and the fuse might blow. Otherwise there are no protection circuit for transformers. Relay switches are useful in many ways when the load is kept isolated for selective switching.

That will likely be the visible ULN2003 that holds a darlington transistor array often also used for driving relays on washing machine controller mainboards, Philip. Best regards, Albert.

Thanks Parasuraman. You mentioned about relays among other components, and the only transistor you talked about is 7805 that is normally in the secondary voltage regulation. So how is the transformers primary winding switched on and off and what protects the winding from surges ? How reliable are relay switches in electronic circuits ? I'm sorry even my enlarged given circuit sketch is not clear enough for me to understand. I often tell my young ones not to ask their teachers many questions that make teachers tiresome or cause annoyance.
