Hi Lemuel,

Many Western countries already shifted to LCD Monitors. However countries like Africa, India, Sri langka and some Asian countries still do CRT Monitor/TV repair. I believe giving few more years it will be phase out soon.

Here in the Philippines, people are junking the old computer monitors and replaced it with LCD monitors. These old  monitors were process for retrieval of gold. There are still working parts that can be re-use if only been extracted before dumping the old monitors.
Some technicians were lazy to repair it for some reason that other parts were not available.

I also intended to upgrade my CRT monitor. A friend of mine gave me a DELL 17" LCD monitor in dead condition and with external power adopter burnt. Mainboard was not repairable. I replaced mainboard and gave power through CPU +12 V supply line. It is working FINE. And there is only one power button of CPU which controls both devices. What about idea ?

I still have a crt TV and want to upgrade but no enough money to buy it. last week at my shop, someone brought me an LCD screen that need fixing but the customer found it too expensive to repair so he gave it to me for free. I bought the new board and intstalled it myself and got myself a working LCD tv set..for only a few dollars..I am happy.
