Samsung 713n LCD Troubleshooting

By on September 7, 2007

The common fault for this samsung  713n LCD Monitor was no display and OSD running with the word “Not Optimum Mode Recommended mode: 1280×1024 60Hz”. Many other users thought that it was setting problem but actually it was the fault of the microcontroller.  You either replace it with a new IC that have programs in it or reprogram it with a programmer that support this 44 pins IC chip.

The shocking news is that not only this samsung 713n have this kind of problem, it also happen to SAMSUNG 153V and Samsung 510n! If all these SAMSUNG LCD Monitor came in with no display symptom, optimum mode, intermittent no display, and other weird problems then suspect this faulty microcontroller.

We have several Samsung 713N monitors. One of them is out of warranty and is giving the "Optimium Resolution" error. I have read some threads in forums that this can be fixed by putting a 50Ohm resistor across pins 5 and 6 of the Novatek IC.

Otherwise, do you know where we can get replacement video boards for the Samsung 713N?

    Hi Mike,

Try Samsung distributors as they do sell board to customers. In my country they are selling about 45 to 50 USD depending on the size of the LCD Monitor. You may try to ask from the Samsung distributor in your country.

Hello, I have the Samsung 713n monitor & I'm getting the same "Not Optimum Mode Recommended mode: 1280×1024 60Hz" message. Where can I find this microcontroller to fix this? Thanks.

    HI Amy,

Sorry no info on that. Usually i purchase a new board to fix it in since i can't get the MCU.

    HI Stanislav,

Yes you can try that but not all will work. No harm trying.

      Hi Tommy,

If the output voltages are 5 and 12 volt then you can replace it.
