You can get the oil anywhere that sells watch/clock tools and stuff. The oil comes in different viscosities. Some of it is more grease than oil. Some are very expensive, but I would use the less expensive for electronics and such. The best thing about it is that it's made to last a long time without evaporating or getting tacky/gummy.
WD40 soon becomes very gummy. I would imagine that when it gets gummy it will cause the fan, or anything else, to work harder and pull more current. When I was a kid I wouldn't even use WD40 on my bicycle chains unless I had nothing else. The only thing I use it for is to remove rusty screws and stuff.

You are right any lubricant work as a "Dirt Magnet" when applied in excess quantity i generally never spray WD40 directly on desired place; i always use Doctors needle syringe or "Q tip" for applying to the target place so that dust sticking is prevented, in past i was using Sewing Machine Oil but this oil is so thick and sticky so i avoid this oil.in fact I have tried "4t engine oil" this also works great as a lubricant.
Can you just provide some product detail about Watch/ clock oil because i have not used yet.

WD40 is about the worse thing you can use unless you're trying to free rusty screws. It becomes very tacky and a dirt magnet. Try some good watch/clock oil. I've heard some people mention sewing machine oil but I haven't tried it. Watch/ clock oil is designed to last many years without evaporating.

You are right specially for the laptop. if you can see inside the Desktop minimum 3 Fans required for SMPS /CPU /Chases. with sufficient air circulation inside the BOX. But in Laptop it is worst exhaust design.
