The DVD player used a single CCFL side light and a light guide and difussers to illuminate the entire LCD panel. The inverter is very simple and requires no on/off signal or reference voltage only 9V-12V DC.It has Vcc and GND on power supply input connector. It will work to test lamps in up to 32" TV, anything larger and it does not light the entire length of the lamp. I am working on a design for a kit we can all make easily right now, it is a flyback circuit, very similar to the inverter circuit from the portable DVD player and uses common parts like 555ic and RF510 just working out the final bugs and I will post it with a schematic and parts list on my blog and probably put it in next months news letter so hold tight everyone. First you need to read the part number of the SCR then locate the datasheet from the internet. From there you will know which pin is Anode, Cathode and Gate.
