Well Chris, in my country the enviroment moisture is very high, over 100% some days, that's a reason of corroded contacts. Another reason is that PCs work at closed rooms and the cigarette smoke is very harmful for electronic circuits.

I am using silicon non conductive paste on solder joint and on Connectors.effective way to prevent Oxidation corrosion on copper joints.

Well done Humberto!
Do you know what is the reason why the hard was corroded and with bad contacts?
Is there something in the air where that PC operates?
I had problems with soldering points when I put cctv systems in cowsheds. The evaporating ammonia eat up the soldering points with the copper wiring together and I had lot of broken power wiring in the system. This phenomenon appear after 3-4 month after the system was installed and the soldering was made.
I have to say does the soldering point was properly but maybe not good enough isolated.
Could it happen in your case does this hard will corrode again?
