Thanks. Well, I did not check current drawn by this section, as the standard is unknown. Base to Emitter was checked as a routine exam. Did not check on battery. 8050, 'SS':.It is SS8050.YES, it is commonly used in Adapters!

Good job Parasuraman, and thanks for the chip datasheet in the article.
Although the tv now worked without any problem for hours and days after the transistors were replaced by BD139/BD140 types, it still would be interesting to know just how much current they were really switching at what CEO voltage? To be able to compare them with their specs and with each other. Because all transistors were getting slightly warm which doesn't tell much. And I wonder if they worked differently if the set only was used playing on batteries. But without service manual or schematic these things probably always will remain a small mystery. The original (SS?)8050 you mentioned is often used together with a 13001 in small PWM power adapters.

made me dig out the diagram of the the Tedelex models we had of the one mono and one stereo 5"with built in tape cassettes. They used UPC1379 for osc. But it's great to see these old models pulled out of retirement by if I may say it us old geezers and put back into service! Well done!!
