I have turned my attention to the subject of &quot;ring&quot; testing low frequency and other transformers and inductors. I have found that it is perfectly practical. Right now I&#039;m building a prototype. It won&#039;t have just 8 LEDs in a bargraph but two 7-segment displays to show up to 99 rings, which some very good inductors can produce. Hi Ronald,

For testing normal coils in consumer electronics, a decent coil tester is adequate (like the Blue Ring Tester). But for testing motor winding and some other bigger coils then a more powerful tester is needed.
