Sometimes it helps to spray contact spray in the switches but that depends on the kind of switches used. In case of switches of a IR remote control not working I found a new very successful method : I use thin self adhesive aluminium foil that I press/glue on the backside of the top rubber/silicon buttons. 100% success rate where normal gluing thin aluminium pieces never seems to hold!
