Update 27 May 2021: My brandnew Wansenda 256GB USB stick yesterday suddenly no longer was accessable in Windows 10. And I tried to check and format the memory stick but it is dead now. An expensive 27 Euro short live gonner! Only the red led is working when checked in my Supertech tester. So better do NOT by these worthless Wansenda sticks. Also because this stick caused a never ending "put the last volume in..." message on my Windows 10 that now is finally gone too!

In case anyone is searching for those superb working 5GB/s USB3.0 Rocketek 4in1 card reader adapters here.
I was able to buy 2 new readers were other sellers failed to deliver after a month of wasted waiting and at Grandado I got two readers even 33% cheaper and delivered in only 11 days from China! The only thing that I also did afterwards is make a very tiny hole in the top half black plastic of the reader above the 3mm led so that the activity of the inside blue led is easy visible.

Albert: Thanks for the update. It's a shame that StarTech didn't go the second mile,to find compatible adapters to use with this fine product. That's why your write-up where you gave several adapters junk labels, saves us a lot of time and money. Your are to be commended.

Update: Today on 23 march 2021 another 512GB Wansenda USB 3.0 memory stick, like the other one tested in the article, was received in about 11 days through Aliexpress. And was even faster than previous 256GB stick. This new 468GB free USB3.0 FAT32 formatted stick was completely tested GOOD (a marked 512GB memory stick! So was about 32GB less than its expected 512GB size! but twice the free memory size of the 256GB stick). And its overall read speed was 28.9MB/second compared to the 27.5MB/second overall read speed of the 234GB USB 3.0 Wansenda stick. Aliexpress price 38,26 Euro! So both were perfect tested memory sticks in the StarTech USBdup12 tester/copier!

I asked the StarTech guys about that in an online chat they provide on their website. And asked if they had some info they could share like maybe a device list of approved card reader adapters that they know that work. Or maybe one that excludes the bad tested ones. But sadly they didn't and the instruction manual guide included with every StarTech USBdup12 doesn't mention anything about this incompatible issue with USB adapters. But they said that it could be a current issue but I hardly think that is the reason. The odd thing here is that my only USB 3.0 Rocketek cardadapter worked excellent while the StarTech Duplicator still is just an USB 2.0 protocol device.

I don't think blowing warm air with our mouth will help when memory is just bad? A friend of mine bought from a unreliable source a couple of 256GB SD cards that failed all tests. They were completely useless and I understand that he got his money back because they already knew they were fake or useless. Like the fake 2TB USB memory sticks I had bought online. I opened both cards to examine what was inside. Inside there only was a micro SD card that was marked with a 256GB text which was pressfit by its gold contacts in a bigger enclosure that made contact with the outside gold contacts. The small micro SD card probably just contains a tiny chip that I left closed because it was hard to open any further as it was completely glued inside its plastic.

Good Article!
Some time USB sticks are not detecting because of bad USB contacts in side the connector ... but may time it works just blow the warm air from mouth.
some time 2GB showing 160Gb because of corrupt firmware and most of them are non recoverable.
