I think I'd be nervous taking apart a 50-inch TV just to replace the backlight. One wrong move and you've got a cracked screen instead of a working television. Good thing your friend was available to help. What surprised me more was finding out the TV had apparently been opened and modified before, without the owner even knowing. I'd be pretty annoyed about that. Still, getting another few years out of a ten-year-old TV is a nice result. Much better than throwing it away over a faulty LED strip!

Such a useful repair article can only mean one thing - selfless commitment. While some techies may be execellnt in certain areas of tv repair, they may find it challenging to work on a different area or repair work. Their are repairs that one can do efficiently in 20 minutes that takes another repairer specialized differently to do for a whole two days. When i was reading Philips reply i got confused by the use of the word, "habor". though the correct spelling should be, HARBOUR. In the oxford dictionary the third intended meaning of harbour is to contain and allow something to develop. Parasuraman its a good lesson teaching as to develop a good relationship with our neighbors.

Thanks sir. Working on a large tv screen mostly tends to send a shiver down our spines, as the screen-crack phobia clouds our minds. As he trained, the 'techie' had to exercise caution, practice endurance, stay focused, maintain consistency, remain determined .... and maybe stuck to being prayerful. He could have gone through all these to come out as the expert whose great work we see. My lesson here is I should work hard to make difficult jobs easy to perform. Its hard to get easy jobs and its easy to get hard jobs. Hard jobs requiring expertise pay handsomely. That, your techie friend still repairs crt tvs makes him and I still stick to a common interest (despite my back aces). That, your neighbor watches crt tv makes us share a habored immense liking for lovely crt tv sets. Some 20 years back we were told that buying tvs with a model number ending with "R" meant refurbished tv (new/repaired). SHOW ME A MANUFACTURER WHO MAKES ABSOLUTELY FAULTLESS ELECTRONIC ITEMS, AND I WILL SQUEEZE WATER OUT OF A ROCK

Not for lifting, dear Imoudu. It is for detaching the possible gum under the panel with the frame. You can use old or discarded credit card or such other thin strong plastic piece. You have to run it on all sides except the side cof if any and the main cof under the bottom (in some sets, it is on the top). Never run it on the sides where side COF or main COF are fit. You have to carefully look and run it in the vacant places very carefully ensuring that the card does not touch the cof in any way at all. Many thanks for your comments!

It provides good step-by-step repair instructions; however, backlight repair can sometimes backfire—for instance, if the panel gets damaged during the removal process.
By the way, which company's cordless vacuum cleaner are you using?is it useful?
