Hi Dheeraj,

I have not tried that before thus I can't provide you with an answer. Nowadays is hard to find replacement for CRT TV parts. By the way when you swap a yoke coil, there are lots of alignment that you need to do and sometimes you may not be able to get the right convergence. The best is to find a replacement tube from junk store or old TVs.

Hi Husam,

I have not performed such test before. If you want to measure the current you need to break the circuit and connect the ammeter in between the line.

Hello Sir,
I have an EBM ( Elecron Beam Machine ) in laboratory and I would like to measure the current that passes through the deflection coil for a researching purposes. The EBM deflectors are likely the same with TVs deflectors. My question is How much the current passes in the deflection coil for TVs? and how can we measure the current ?

Warm regards

HI Yahiya,

Just use a blue ring tester and check on the horizontal yoke coil. A good one will show 8 bar LEDs. Vertical yoke can't be tested unless you have the sencore LC103 tester.

Vertical coil rarely have problem. More than 90% problem happen in the horizontal yoke coil.

Sir,
here is the one more test procedure for YOKE coil.
i have checked and find had OK or Not.
Simply vertical or Horizontal windings connected one by one but first of all remove yoke connector from PCB circuit.
In short and easy way is to connect vertical winding wire on horizontal and horizontal winding wire connect on vertical side and set power-ON in series board. means windings wire change to each other or replace to each other.
its easy to know yoke has shorted or not .. But precautions must be followed during connections and touch under power-off conditions only....

thanks you

HI Chris,

I suggest that you visit these links that have good info about tv/monitor. Yes the tv/monitor board can be repaired but again it depends on the availability of parts.
