Great Job done once again. This is the first time I came to know about "U-series" (5 Valves: UY85 as rectifier, UCL82 as preamp & power amp combined, UBF89 as inter IF amp, UCH81 as RF oscillator and Mixer, UM84 as the Magic Valve (Tuning indicator).). I was familiar with "E-Series only".

Concerning this statement - "The dangerous disadvantage of this type of Radio is that the chassis will get 230V AC directly and might give a lethal shock if the ground becomes the Line in.". My question is - is it a safe practice to have wire inserted in the "earth" pin which is alongside "aerial pin"? That way, one can avoid such an accidental shock? Please clarify. Thanks

Dear Sir,
I have repaired valve radios during my college days(1967to1971). This repair article has taken me to that thrilling time.This set is having auto transformer while some set having high watt wirewound adjustable resistor for filament supply. Magic eye was very useful for alignment of IFT as signal generator was not afordable for student like me.You have done perfect job to bring back the set to life at the age of 76+ if I am not wrong! Hats off to your dedication and vigour.

Radio repair is lovely, most of the capacitors remain in exellent working condition, its inavailability of IC spare parts that makes most repairs unsuccessful.
