Things That I Bought In Singapore

Actually i was looking for the technical bookstore in Sim Lim Tower on the first day but the shop close at 6.30pm. Since it already close so we went to Sim Lim Square. There i bought a USB magnifier that can magnify up to 200x. The display can be seen from any computer and the good thing about this magnifier, is that the picture can be captured and you can save it in jpeg file. The cost was 99 Singapore dollar. This magnifier is good  when troubleshooting board that consist of SMD components. Dry joints or line crack in the board can be easily identified. On the thrid day, i went to Sim Lim tower in the morning because i wanted to get some update news on technical books. After scanned through the bookstore, finally i bought some books. It was not the latest book but i found some new info in those books.

Then i walked around the electronics shop (it consist of 3 floors) and found that most of the shops were selling common electronics items like multitester and general electronic components. I did not see any new gadget. After one and a half hour, i left the building and met up with my family and friends in Bugis Street. Here are the photos of the items that i bought in Sim Lim Tower:

   SINGAPORE COMPERE TO SHENZEN does not have any thing to say.
   very strange the book stores are closing in 6 pm after noon!

   this digi microscope is really a good weapon in the battlefield of repair for me with 60-70 usd

   Hi Jestine

   Does your USB magnifier have zoom and led lighting ? I believe there are several models some with more features than others. Did you check out the other models and what is their price range ?

   I was tempted to buy one from eBay for between US$30 to US$50 but decided to wait until I get feedback from someone who has used one.

   Is S$1 (Singapore Dollar) about US$0.76 ? If so, Singapore prices seem high.

    Once you test out your digital microscope, could you please break a damaged IC and send us a picture of how the damaged silicon chip inside it actually looks like.

    The digi-microscope looks cool. It's too bad that you could not find some better tech guides but at the same time if you found some good info in the guides that you did get than that is a good thing.
