Anyway I still haven't found a good solution to glue things together when bigger areas of the encasing is damaged.

Sadly I never bake so I in the past used some other glue which I mixed with the cyanoacrylate glue (superglue). That also made a stronger and faster hardening material. And it helps in times when the mostly hard plastics are not porous enough to attach to. And if you have old rather expensive silver glue that hardened out you still can reactivate the glue by adding some nail polish remover or acetone to it and stir both.
