To Buy Or Not To Buy

By on May 4, 2010

I’m searching for websites to buy online the Digital Transistor Tester.  There are plenty of websites from China that offer good prices for this meter. Is it reliable after hearing lots of horror stories from friends saying that some would not deliver their stock even after payment and there was no response after sending email.  What would you do if you are the one who want to buy things online from that country? Kind to share?

Here is the eBay listing for $30 including s&h to US
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260589283904
You can get 8% off if you register with www.bing.com (owned by Microsoft), use eBay Buy-It-Now and pay with PayPal.
Your purchases are covered by eBay insurance. If the seller doesn't come through, eBay will reimburse you.
How does US$30 compared to the Chinese websites you found ? A couple of my friends here want to purchase also. I think Hong Kong websites may be more trustworthy.

Hii Jestine,

After I read the webpage regarding the digital transistor tester from China I sent email to them asking how I want to buy the tester and what was the cost for one unit but until now I didnt receive any news from them.I suggest its better for you to be the selling agent in Malaysia and we buy from you.Iam intrested in that tester.

Thanks

HI Andi,

That's the problem with their email support. If they could not even answer the email, i guess if the shipment have problem we do not know who to contact. I have just bought it from ebay recommended by Sam and the cost is USD45.00 (which is quite cheap). I will post it to my blog once i got the meter.I will see the quality of the meter and how accurate to test those components before thinking to become their agent.

HI Sam,

Thanks for the link and i have just purchased it. The price is quite cheap as compare to other Chinese websites. I used to buy RC HELICOPTER from Hong Kong websites thus i guess it is more reliable than getting it from China.

Please let us know how it goes. At that price I'll be sad I just bought the Peak analyser. Oh well you can't have too much test gear 🙂

Hi Jestin,

Last month I bought a transistor tester from China throught on line TaoBao. It cost 10.0 US dollar.

The tester was sent to my hotel but unfortunly I went back to Hong Kong before the tester was arrived.

Anyway, I'll got the tester next week and I'll sent the comment once I've try the tester.

www.TaoBao.com which means "treasure hunt" in Mandarin, is China's rival to eBay. DY294 sells for between ¥ 160 to ¥ 360 there.
A copy of the DY284 operating manual is available HERE

I can't wait for the review on the DY294, I am interested to hear the quality of this meter. I really like the specifications, but the price is so low. If this meter is decent quality I will definately purchase one. I love getting new tools and test equipment, it is very exciting. I am like a kid with a new toy.
