Transformer Failed In USB Player

This was brought back to me with the complaint that there was no display. As we all know, a fully dead condition most of the time, indicates power supply failure. So, I opened the set and checked for the fuse, which was blown! What caused it to blow was the next probe. When I checked the primary of the transformer, it was found open. It was a 230 to 7.5-0-7.5 V AC, 500mA transformer.
Most probably a spike in the input voltage could have killed this Transformer, which worked faithfully for the last 3 years! I desoldered the wires and removed it from the case. Replaced it with a new one from my stock. Replaced the fuse also. Powered the unit and found it to get back its life! Played USB and FM through my Amp and found these to be working just fine! So closed the case, fixed it with tape like before!
Mission accomplished quickly, but without any omission of satisfaction getting added to its collection bag!

Seeing the name of the now defect transformer it didn't hold up to its name "STARK". I guess WEAK would be more appropriate (LOL). Your Audio MP3 Player worked so well all those years that in the end the transformer simply gave up.
