I was a beginner in this repairing field too, though I hold a bachelor degree in EE. By buying all your e-books and especially by your personal guidance, I have repaired tens of CRT and several LCD monitors. Buying your e-books and getting your support is very worthwhile.

Thanks for the comment. It seems that you have been in the long journey before you success in this repair line. You are right about never give up and ask question. I always encourage my students to ask question. I told them that if you have doubt and did not ask question i would not know how well they know about electronic repair.

for me, electronics was just a hobby. when I was a kid, I was opening every equipment that I could find and try to see how it works and in the process, I broke a lot of equipment.so I decided to study electronics. I took a lot of electronics courses in the states but it was really tough and I gave up and changed to Business degree.
I came back home and I was working in a TV broadcasting company as a camera and Audio man but due to the problems in this land, I lost my job and decided to start my own business in Electronics..but before I did that, I started fixing things with a friend of mine who taught me a lot about electronics then I started my own business.
it was hard to start it but my friend helped me out in many ways..then everything got better and now, it is my source of income. Thanks to Jestine's books, I was able to advance more into electronics and I am loving it. I advice you to get books and if you find any difficulties in understanding, DO NO GIVE UP..also ask questions about things you do not understand..there is no shame in asking questions..that is the best way to learn. that is my advice to you all out there. I wish I could go back in time and finish my degree in Broadcast Engineering..now, I am able to do that thanks to MR, Jestine's books and his wonderful helping attitude in answering all my questions. I thank you and God bless you.

Jestine I think this is a good topic. I have wondered over the last few years how people now learn repair from zero knowledge to top technician. I graduated in 1978 from an electronics school that taught basics, digital, tv and industrial. Now a days I think the focus in on computers, cisco routing and networking.
Like you said, if you want to specialize buy books on a certain topic.
Also buy Jestines ebooks, they are all great. I have now worked as a consumer electronics tech at the same company for 32 years. I still love it and learn everday. Go to you tube and watch repair videos on any electronic topic. Find a local repair shop in your area and see if you can make visits and watch there tech troubleshoot units. Get old magazines and study them. Going to factory schools also helps get you good on certain typs of equipment.

Electronics to me is like realestate or medical fields. You have to constantly study and keep up with new things so you do not get lost or behind. I hope this helps some new people.
