A TV Powers On But There Is No Display Repaired
I got an email from a subscriber (Menahem) to Jestine Yong web site about a TV that he wants to donate because the customer who owns this TV did not accept the repair quote; I accepted the donation and we arranged to pick up the TV as soon as possible.
This TV powers on just fine but has no display which is a very clean indication that it has a faulty back light.
To be more sure about the fault, I powered on the TV and then with a flash light on the display I could see the LG logo coming on; let the repair begins.
I took the back cover off and started dismantling the TV piece by piece and being very careful around the display panel because it is very fragile.
The display was carefully taken out and was put in a safe place and then continued with the dismantling of the rest of the pieces on this TV.
Finally I got to the back light strips and right away I could see all the diffusers already fallen apart and needed replacement.
After finding out the model number of such LED strips I was able to get them in a local shop for cheap so one thing left to do is to install them and see the outcome.
As seen brand new LED strips were installed successfully.
I put everything back together…take a look
It was an easy process of replacing the LED strips but I always get nervous when I take the panel off for it is a very fragile part and it could break while dealing with it.
Anyway, the TV is up and running and to that I could say
Mission Accomplished.

Excellent work! You are right about handling of LED panels! It is very fragile and a little bit of carefree or careless handling would cause a break! Thanks for sharing, dear friend!

That indeed is the biggest worry of all tv repair engineers! Opening without breaking the very thin glass panel and replacing all diffusers falling off. And afterwards carefully putting everything back together again. Glad that you managed to that successfully!

An excellent repair article Waleed. It is really with care when handling the panel itself. All in all, the job was well done

Good repair Waleed. I do this repair regularly. I once tried to reglue those fallen diffusers back on with clear adhesive but the glue wasn't crystal clear and you could see artifacts after the repair. Good experience though!

Zaheedi: check where the source of the 3.3 volts coming from ( may be a power regulator) and where it is going to then find the fault...it is common sense. have a blessed day

Good Job!Waleed,
Every repair required workplace and table space as per the size of the Equipment.so anyone can get nervous if surrounding space does not allow or limit the workspace.
there is always risk abounded with these type of repair.

Yogesh: very true. I have a limited space that can take up to 43 inches TV but no more that is why I am very strict about space beside my son and nephews come very often to the shop so I do not usually take any tv apart unless I am really sure that no ones enters my shop at that time except me. thanks for your input and have a blessed day
