An Active Speaker With Bad Power Port Repaired
A guy came to see my brother next door. As we were talking he asked me something about a broken power port for an active speaker if I can fix it and that will not cost too much money for repair.
As you can see, the power port is broken and needed a replacement. I agreed to the repair because I have plenty of these ports in the shop that I bought for cheap off the internet and I was willing to help out as much as possible.
I took about six screws off the back cover and I took the inside board out for inspection and I saw two problems there;
the power port and a lot of cold soldering joints; both issues have to be addressed.
I took my soldering iron out and with the fume extractor on I started re soldering every joint on that board and once I was done
with that I cleaned the board and headed to the next issue, the power port replacement.
I de soldered the old broken power port off the board and you could see that in the previous photo and then soldered the new replacement.
Here is the new port replacement that was about to be soldered on that board for that active speaker.
And here is the finished product of that power port already soldered on board.
I reassembled everything back together and tested the speaker. Everything was working according to specifications.
The customer was still around talking to my brother when I told him that the speaker was up and running. I could see a wide smile on his face when he told me that his daughter who owns it will be delighted to get her speaker back repaired and that put a wider smile on my face.
Mission accomplished.

Sadly bought for cheap off the internet is no longer the case for any EU (European) living citizen. Because starting 1 July the EU (HQ Brussels Belgium) will ask an additional 21% VAT (Dutch: BTW) plus 4 euro handlings cost plus import fine over any bought product from outside the EU upto a value of 150 euro. And everything above 150 euro in value will cost 10 euro on handlings cost plus the 21% VAT and any import fine. So China will no longer be interesting to buy from for us at all thanks to the EU that only makes everything more expensive for any poor hard worker! Especially when Europe doesn't make any of these parts to begin with. Already prices of timber and other goods are increasingly more expensive these days because of wrong laws from Brussels! That only do the opposite of what they are trying to solve.
