prestige induction cooker repair

This gas stove-cum-Induction Cooker was brought by a new customer, a member of our Residential Association. It was reportedly dead. He helped me remove the Induction Cooker Unit from the bottom (hereinafter referred to as IC for brevity, in this article) and took the Gas Stove Back, as per my request. I subjected it to a thorough cleaning before bringing it inside my house.

Since it had a common top, I removed only the bottom portion along with the control panel. The unit was fixed with side clamps, picture of which was forgotten to take.

The IGBT was short, there was a thick wire in place of 15A fuse, the bridge rectifier was found short on one direction between the AC input points, one black capacitor was showing lower values which were an indication of getting short, and one resistor was showing higher value:

I replaced all these components and then all the electrolytic capacitors along with 8050/8550 transistors, 78L05 regulator 18V Zener and IN4148 Diode as the board had rusts and fungus attacks on many places. Then retouched the control board very well. I could make out that this IC had undergone repairs before as the main board was found retouched with fresh solder and a few components replaced. That saved a lot of my time too. Then applied power and observed the IC showing E7 error. Generally, the E7 error could be due to the temperature sensors.

So, I replaced the two temperature sensors on the coil, upon which the IC worked very well. I took it to the kitchen and gave power keeping it well isolated from our IC and boiled a port of water. The IC was found working very well. (I had taken a Ceramic top of a scrapped IC from one of my techie friends in order to enable isolation of vessels. That is what you see in the picture below:

Mission accomplished with grit, determination and spirit gained!

Satisfaction, therefore, jumped into the collection bag without waiting for a nod from me! (LOL)

P.S. I informed the customer not to bring the gas stove again and offered to go to his home and fix the IC back on its top like before, which was very much appreciated by him.

Good job sir, however I wonder why you see that resistor as on higher value,if its color code, red, black, black,orange,gold...that's 200kilo ohms with + - 5% tolerance, going by what ur metre is reading, I think that value is still within tolerance level and it can be said it's good.

Higher value of resistors would affect required current in the circuit. So, we may have to adjust its value to suit the circuit. Many thanks!
