LCD Monitor Power Supply Modification
While browsing for LCD Monitor power supply spare parts i saw a website about how to modify ATX power supply into it. Although it was not nice to place behind the LCD Monitor, it works! You can do this modification on your own junk LCD Monitors but not on customer LCD Monitors unless if the customer agrees with your idea. Most of the LCD Monitors are running on 5v and 12 v, what he did was to defeat the original power supply and tapped the supply voltage from the ATX power supply output. Some repairers will use universal power supply or power supply from a DVD player to power up the LCD monitors. These power supply modules are smaller thus it can be placed inside the monitor which is more presentable. If you have modified these types of power supplies before we would like to hear your comment-thanks.

its a good idea for some times we cant buy spare parts for repair.

Sir, I remember I modify the supply of the Dell LCD because the supply is Burn.So I use to replace the supply of the DVD, yes it works but after a month the main board spare parts is burn.This mainboard is smd and the spare parts cannot be read.

Sir we have 2 units of 19" Acer LCD bought from 2nd hand junk but no power supplies... What we did is to tap
a 12 VDC from inside the CPU... We have 600W power supply and until now it is still working... Thanks from

I am too done this trick before with my previous ibm lcd monitor, less expensive and you can find anywhere a junk psu, but sometimes it breakdown even with a higher watts psu. I have tried those old psu with only 150watts and it works.

Hi Jestine,
Weve done this trick before with my partner in computer repair.
We got this problem with two in one PC and LCD in one Hitachi
brand from Japan. Since he's not that creative with this kind
of problem coz he's expertise are more on software, we decided
to replace the dead power supply with a regular/ordinary pc
power supply. It works. Other than that, I also tried using
the DVD power supply board in a sub woofer because the 12 VDC
power supply is missing . I replace and redirect it inside.
