LG Stereo System DVD CD Tray Not Open Repaired
The complaint of this LG stereo system DVD 3 DISC changer was the display showed open but the tray did not open.
After about 2 to 3 minutes an error message of “Disc Err” appeared! Even though you have pressed many times, the tray just refused to open.
I opened the back cover and then lifted up the lens cover as seen from the photo below:
I then performed the alignment check. Please check out the steps below:
The lens is center now and the set should be working fine. Let’s test it again.
Finally the tray was open and it can play the DVD disc as shown in the below photos.
Conclusion- Sometimes the belt problem also can cause the tray eject problem. I suggest that you visit another website by Jestine Yong for more information on how to solve the tray eject problem:

Sometimes the drive plateau won't open, not because of a bad rubber snare or a bad alignment of the mechanic parts. It often is the magnetic top that pushes the disc onto the motor rotor wheel. So it will not leave while turning. Because the permanent Magnet has often just become too strong to elevate and free the disc. This happens with XBOX360 players but also with pc dvd/cd drives, or Philips DVD players for tv. I have confirmed this with an easy test. I weakened the Magnetic field by adding a few layers from a thin adhesive sticker between motor rotator and top magmetic arm. This remedy often did solve this problem immediately.

Albert, I'm going to share soon an article similar to what you say, but regarding to DVD-units in PCs. I'll describe carefully how I solve these situations.

I also had a similar problem with my own old Sony Sistem (from 1996). It was hard to find the belts. I've found a belt set for Aiwa that were not exactly the same size, but it worked. Thanks, Suranga.

Sometimes you can find similar belts in old and unused DVD-Drive or CD-Drive of PCs.
