Never Give Up Attitude In Electronic Repair
For the past few days I’d been supporting one of my ebook buyer and also an ERG member about no power in a CRT Monitor. He had tried to repair the Monitor but just could not find out the problem. I gave him lots of advice and eventually he emailed me today and i replied back:

I have successfully repaired the monitor! The only culprit was the Power FET, shorted between its gate and source pin. I wonder how come since I’d replaced it before, then I remember when I tried to discharge the filter capacitor, I shorted the drain pin with the hot ground but not carefully touching other pin nearby causing quite big spark.
Congratulation! And in fact from this repair i believe you had learn many thing during the process of getting the Monitor back to life. All this add up to your experience so that you will know what to do whenever if there’s another unit with no power come across you bench. In other word, you will have confidence in tackling any no power symptom in Monitor and other electronic equipment. That’s why i keep on emphasizing you to concentrate to test all the electronic components again because the output was still zero volt and also the Blue ring tester had help out in determining that the primary winding and all the secondary side components were good. You also learn that the power ic could supported by another quite similar part number.
Yesterday I’d also built the power IC tester, and confirmed that the last power IC on board is still good.
This tester could save you money.
Here are the photos. I cannot thank you enough.
You are welcome. It is your afford and your never give up attitude that had brought this Monitor back to life again.
Best regards,
Jestine Yong

Hi Lex,
Try this link:

If there is no output at all from the SMPS then i suggest that you check all components in the SMPS.
