No Disk In DVD Player Repaired
The complaint of this TELESONIC DVD Player was it can’t read CD (no disk).
The first thing to do is to open up the cover and check for any loose connection in the DVD assembly.
All connection seems to be working fine. When the power is applied, the lens will move but no laser beam from the lens.
The next test was to replace the ribbon cable.
To my surprise, the lens started to work .
When I put in the CD, it began to read the disk and problem solved. This means a bad/broken cable can cause a no disk symptom in a DVD player. So it is not necessary must be the problem of the laser lens and the assembly.
Note: Do not look straight to the laser lens as it can damage your eyes.

Good fix Suranga. And it's always nice to have a spare flatcable or ribbon cable at hand in case of a replacement repair. I myself tried to repair a CyberHome CH-DVD 402 MP3 and DVD Disc Player, but these sadly are not easily repaired. No parts are available and the (German) Manufacturer doesn't make these Players any more today. The trouble with the CyberHome Players is in fact that all DVD MPG Decoder Electronics is integrated into the DVD player controller itself also. Which means that if the DVD player with its tray doesn't function anymore your CyberHome has become totally useless. And that's real sad because when it worked it was a terrific Player (Region Free and more). Which also means that only the DVD Players without integrated DVD MPG Video decoder electronics, that have their Decoder Outside apart of the DVD Player Controller Electronics on a separate pcb board, are more likely repairable.

Thanks for sharing Suranga!
I also have a Philips DVD player with the defective ribbon cable. Would you please let me know where I can buy a cheaper replacement?
I thank you in advance.

well done! am glad ur task ended right there! i have had several cases of fixing no disc error in dvd players, and herre is the challenge i face.
after testing the lens is working wiht new ribbons i change the ribbon or even some times the lens, and to my surprise. the error is cleared but not fully.
the dvd players can now play all other formats except a DvD disc.
in other words audio cds-ok,vcds-ok,mp3/data discs-ok but when u insert a DvD disc. it still reads no disc or disc error.
what would drop it from playing dvd discs to playing only the other formats.
i noticed u tried it with an audio cd, i hope it played the dvds too.
good luck. all the best.
