Video Head Tester
By Jestine Yong on January 30, 2013
I still could recall about the VCR video head tester that was used in the 80s. One of my electronic suppliers always test the new video head with the video head tester before sell it to the customers. Technology changes so fast and I guess many beginners have not seen any real VCR before. When I started to join the electronics repair field over 20 years ago, the VCR technology was slowly phasing out before it was finally replaced by laser disc and VCD. Any blog reader here have a chance to use such tester? If yes we would like to hear about your experience. Thanks in advanced!

yes, I used to have one like that. actually, it was very accurate and i loved it very much. it has a battery tester as well and it could test up to four heads...it had to be calibrated every time when used..especially when switching from testing one head to twor or three or four.
i gave it some another tech person to use it and brought it back broken..I guess he did not know how to use it.

Hi Waleed,
Thanks for sharing. By the way, from the spec it seems this testes is used to check on the inductance of the video head. Usually in micro henry.

Hi Jestine I wanted to ask an opinion and I'm sorry if this has nothing to do with
tester video heads, but I found on ebay an analog ESR Tester by name
Capacheck Mictron built by the Creatronica in Argentina but imported and sold in India. This tester is very interesting to me as well as accurately measure the ESR of a capacitor
can also take the test on charged capacitors and also when the board is powered up, it can take the test and DCR can try the flyback transformer and switch-mode power supply transformers. and then I liked it so much also for aesthetics.
Only downside is that it costs a little more than other digital ESR meter.
Jestine What do you think, do you think it's worth getting one? If she has more knowledge of this tester please give me your opinion.
I have already two meters esr one analog and one digital, but I have fixed this tester which I have mentioned before.
This is the link on ebay where you can buy this esr meter analog:

HI Antonio,
If you already have an ESR meter (analog and digital) then you don't need to get another one unless if you like the feature that it can test the coils.

Just found my YF-225V back and want to test a videohead, but lost the manual. Its not in the bag, damm. Can you send me some photos of the manual? Would be great. I don't remember how to use it proper at the moment. 3 measurements A-B-C Switch B.CHE. Can't find the manual on line.
Many thanks.

Hi Maurice,
Sorry I don't have the tester with me. From the post, it was written that it belongs to an electronic supplier.
