Dead LCD TV was brought back to life. Luxor LH32S82W
A guy stopped by my shop and asked for my help to move a 32 inches LCD TV to my shop. Once we got it in my shop, he explained about the problem of this TV set. He said it shuts down after a while. I tried to power it up while he waits, but the TV did not come on. Instead, I could hear some ticking noise coming from inside the TV set.
Once the inside boards were revealed, this is what I saw:
I could see one bad capacitor that was bulged but the moment I took the power board off, I could see another bad capacitor under the heat sink.
Only two bad capacitors were bulged that caused this LCD TV set not to come on. Of course I had to check the other capacitors with an ESR meter to make sure they are in good working conditions. All the capacitors checked ok except these two. They were 2200uf/10 volts.
That was an easy problem to fix. Sometimes I had this kind of easy repair in my shop and sometimes, I get tough cases that will take a lot of time to get them fixed.
I replaced the two capacitors but before I turn the power on, I just wanted to check the soldering joints on this power supply. There were a lot of cold joints to be fixed. So I turned on my trusted Kada soldering machine and got busy with these dry joints.
I put the power board back and powered up the TV set. As you can see, it worked nicely.
Called the customer and he came to pick it up. I helped him again to put it back in the car. He asked me to go with him to hookup everything back and make sure all is working fine.
Went to his house and connected everything back the way it was suppose to be and he took me back to the shop. This LCD TV belonged to his parents and both were happy to see this TV comes back to life. Seeing that smile on their faces brought a smile to my face. Mission accomplished.

Had the exact same problem with the exact same TV. Took all of 30 minutes to fix. (I fixed it before I found your site. I stumbled on your blog hoping to find a service manual but it doesn't look like one exists...).
