Transistor Transistor Logic

If you wish to know more about what is Transistor Transistor Logic (TTL) then check out the Wikipedia website by clicking on the photo. I have a question from a fellow ERG member who asked about what is the different between L, LS, AS, and etc. Please visit the website and scroll down the page till you see “Sub Types” and it has all the explanation there. Another question by him was can the different type of part number say 74L04 (Or 74S04)be replaced with 74LS04? My answer to him was it depends on the circuit as i do have experience that it can be substituted and in some other circuit you have to use back the original part number.
