Replacing Three Bulged Caps Saved An LG Monitor
Hi, my comrades! I am resuming my articles after a long gap due to hectic domestic activities! Keeping healthy and kicking around as usual! This LG Monitor belongs to the Hospital, where I work and it was brought to me in a dead condition. As I forgot to click it when it was not working, I have just put a picture of it taken immediately after it started working!
As usual, I opened the Monitor at the hospital and the IT-Administrator helped me in cleaning the inside thoroughly. I dismantled the set completely and carried only the boards with the panel to my home for troubleshooting.
On verification, I found that three of the electrolytic capacitors were bulged. After replacing these, looked for any other defective components and could not find any. Did a thorough retouch of the entire power supply board. Applied power and found that the outputs voltages were correct as marked on the board.
So reconnected the board and applied power and found a satisfying display.
Carried the display back to hospital and fit it in its cabinet, connected it to a computer and allowed it to run for hours. As it was working very well, concluded the mission was accomplished successfully!
Well, I never forgot to allow the satisfaction get added to its reopened bag! (LOL).

Nice that this time they took the cleaning part out of your hands, and that just replacing those 3 bulged e-caps was all it took to fix this LG monitor.

It is great to use top grade low ESR capacitors and then know the unit may live longer than it did from new.

Only a brave, crazy or extremely competent repairman would only take the boards without the display.
I hope to, one day, be as braze, crazy and or knowledgeable as you Sir. Well done.
Edit to add:
The hospital where you work seems to have a lot of TVs which need your attention. Are they constantly on displaying information?

(1) As I mostly use a two wheeler for my trip, I prefer to make my cargo as simple to carry as possible. Moreover, I carried the display and boards together. But mentioned panel, which you might have thought as the control panel strip. What I meant was the display panel. (2) Not TVs, dear! These are monitors.
Many thanks for your comments!

This concern of all my techie-friends across the globe, is what drives me further and farther! The problem that I find is finding time for writing an article! Though I have completed around 2000 sets, only around 300 cases have been selected for writing articles. Around 30-40 sets are pending to be repaired, and many completed awaiting article writing! That's the situation with me! Many, many thanks, dear for your comments and encouragement!
