Playing At 100% Volume Continuously Tore The Cone Papers In Haeir LED TV Model LE32B9000
This TV belonged to the hospital where I work. It was brought to me with the complaint that the sound was distorted.
I brought the TV to my home and when I opened and checked up, I saw that the cone paper of both the speakers is torn.
As you can see, the speaker is 6 Ohms, 10W. I ordered for new pair. Got exact replacement. After replacing the speakers, when I checked up the sound level, it was at 100%! Must have been at this level for a prolonged time as a result of which the paper could have got torn.
I did not see any other reason, like quite old etc. I told the maintenance department to take care of this in future. The TV was working perfectly with good audio output.
Your guess is right, satisfaction got collected!

Built-in TV speakers are usually terrible sounding anyway.
Tell Maintenance to put an order in for a sound bar. 😀

A good discovery of the faulty speakers and it's replacement with new ones, but after the speakers replacement the volume was at 100%, when the volume control was adjusted did it go below 100%?.

Yes, the volume was set by me at around 50%. It was good enough! Many thanks for your comments!

Quick and fast pro repair. I guess that the hospital better should disable the maximum volume setting somehow preventing this from also happening to all other TVs in use. Which would make this a very costly repair in future. Hiding all IR remote controls is probably not an ideal option. And current limiting the power to both speakers by adding a resistor in serie is doable but probably too much work if it involves having to remove all TVs from their position and placing them back after the fix is applied. Anyway... I use these special within +3 seconds reacting selfrestoring after 20 seconds PTCs in my 80 Watt Peak loudspeaker boxes to prevent overloading the coils from burning through which of course doesn't help the cones from damaging in the hospital but does help to safe the speaker coils at maximum power: https://www.lautsprechershop.de/hifi/ptc_en.htm

Well, as rightly mentioned by you, it is very difficult to do the preventive jobs. I have advised the maintenance staff to keep checking and that is the only hope that they would do. Many thanks for your expert tips and comments!
