Hisense Tv With Blinking Standby LED
Hisense 40″ tv was brought to me by a new client with complaint of,….. when tv is power on with tv remote, standby led only blinks without tv switching on,this was confirmed in presence of client, with affirmation he wants to collect tv same day,this prevent me from snapping some relevant other pictures.
On opening back cover, and examining the green universal motherboard,two e- caps were swollen.
Most often I do encourage customers to replace motherboard with new one,rather than to repair damaged parts, this customer was willing to buy my idea.
But then I decided to test tv with a new blue motherboard which I normally use as a tool to check if panel is ok or not whenever such tv is brought for repair.
So I interchange the tv original board with my tooling motherboard and switch ON, to my surprise tv switch on,with backlight on but no pictures…..this baffled me because same tool blue board have been used in the past to test tv and it has been working with good pictures.
So what happens…….ur thought is as good as mine, I will come back to this question in subsequent article.
Since this 1st timer customer was in a hurry to leave, insisting he must leave with his tv, for the fact he came late in the day. There are some of these clients that think we are miracles workers on repairing devices.
So I suggested to repair tv original motherboard, with no guarantee,not even for one day to him,which he agrees.Why with no guarantee you may ask….from my past experiences in repairing such combo universal motherboard, I’ve learned these boards always have subsequent components damage after a couple of months after the repair, which usually causes tv revisit by customer unhappy.
At this time, it was after 9pm, so desoldered off the two swollen e-caps ( 470uf/16v and 470uf/25v)
and replaced with working ones, then assembled board back and switch ON, wow….tv came back to life, with bright hisense logo, slot in my flash drive to tv usb input to play a video clip, which when client viewed was happy, l couldn’t snap pictures because of client hurry to go. So I scored a goal in this saying ” first impression goes a long way” , because he left happly.

I would like to know more about type of tv tool board that you were able to use a few times successfully in the past. Although tv repair is not my goal it could be handy in special cases. Thanks for sharing Imoudu.

Good repair article Oga Imoudu, but why wanting to replace the combo board which you easily repaired? I think we should always challenge the culprit before quickly replacing the old one if defective components are readily available in our locality. Thanks for the article Sir

Well done. It can be a bit a decision made from experience to either replace components or replace a board. We always aim for a happy customer with no come-backs.

Thanks Imoudu. There sure must be TV panel size or type where CV56XH-U32 isnt compatible. To me the 32 in the part number may be implying TV panel size application. Hisense 40 inch was a rather tall order for the universal board. Now, working on such an item as someone breathes down your neck are two things that dont mix well. You are bound to fall in trouble. Never set a deadline decided by an impatient customer. By the time I was sending this comment you had not send a 'LIKE', neither to Parasuraman nor Albert. Let as show them (and many other senior technicians) our appreciated concern.

I understand your opinion about this kind of customer,he came on Sunday,to return back to city on monday,only to come back to village on the next Sunday,so he wants tv to be available for his family while he's away.

thanks for the article. I have repaired exactly the same boards for years by only replacing the swollen capacitors and I never had an issue with customers bring the tv back..I never give any warranty for repair on TV sets because electricity in our cournty expecially in winter time not stable therefore I explain to the customers that and they usually agree. have a blessed day

There are some boards I repaired in the past by replacing LDO voltage regulators, and still come back after some months, customer complaining tv board breaking down again,so to avoid this kind of repeat come back ,I suggest for total new board replacement to my customer. Moreover don't forget this universal motherboard has about 60,000hrs of operating hours,thereafter their components become weak and stressed
