Picture Tube Hazards

By on September 7, 2007

It is very true that picture tube does have hazards. The x-ray emission, electromagnetic field and implosion (due to a fall caused the picture tube to crack and scattered the glass) can cause danger to us. If you carry or change picture tube it is advisable to wear a goggle to protect your eyes just incase if anything happen to the picture tube.

If you want to perform voltage test especially the high voltage area, don’t do it for a long time. I once used a electromagnetic field tester to test on the Monitor and found that the CRT yoke coils and the flyback transformer area have the highest emission. If you are repairing TV and Monitors just take note about the picture tube hazards to avoid unnecessary health problems in the future.
