Antique Meters

By on November 3, 2010

About few weeks back, do you still remember a guy that came to my office and gave me a box of new components? He came today and brought two meters for me. He bought a Blue ESR and Blue Ring Tester. Previously he already bought two of these meters but because he wanted his technicians to speed up the repair work thus he bought these two meters again. He gave me another gift which were antique meters. This was my first time of seeing such meters (DC ammeter and Voltmeter) and i believe many of you have not see it before. The meters was made in 1957 and i was not born yet!

Do you know what is the weight of the dc ammeter alone? It was about 3.6kg! You are blessed to have a meter that is small and light and have many functions in it. Here are the photos of the two antique meters:

These are really awesome. What a great gift. I love old test equipment like this. I have a few older pieces myself. I was curious about why it said "presented by Australia under the colombo plan" on the meters and I found these articles for anyone else who is interested.

    Take care.

    HI Bernard,

Since the guy that came was in the scrap business thus he collected lots of things.

    Hi Jestine and members,

I have collected a few old bakelite meters like these but don't know what to do with... as in find a home or not. They are probably too old to function properly.

      Hi Leanne,
Perhaps just use it for display. I placed those meter in the display glass and my students could view it.
