Laptop Repaired For Sudden Power Off

Received HP Elitebook X360 Laptop Stating Problem, Laptop gets shutdown in frequent Interval.

I connected Laptop on power for say 1 hour worked fine without any problem, called up customer for reconfirming the problem this time he described the problem in detail that laptop is working good while connected on charging adaptor but giving problem while working only on the battery.

It is very important to understand the Fault behavior of the Laptop else it will consume more time to troubleshoot Laptop & Faulty section are unpredictable.

So I removed the charging Power adaptor & turned ON the laptop it works for 2hrs & suddenly it turned off again I turned ON the laptop & checked Battery charging indicator it showing battery is 72% Charged. Again it worked for ½ an hour & again it turned Off. it is not shutdown it is turned Off.

Now for this fault symptom could be because of bad Motherboard or Battery itself bad. Opened the laptop removed the battery and checked Battery physical condition it does not look in bad shape or swelling.

Inside the laptop it looks very clean no dust visible.

So here I need working battery for testing, unfortunately I delivered the same type of laptop after upgrading the SSD two days back.

I contacted some of my techie friends if they have the battery for the testing. But no success.

I called up one of my part supplier he told me that these batteries are not in stock & available back to back on confirm order. I told him my concern, he also shared his anguish and He said that since the battery wasn’t from their supplier, they could arrange a replacement for me, but it wouldn’t be taken back if it wasn’t used.

I was worried that if it was not a battery fault, it would be a bad investment for me. Meanwhile I called the customer that this battery is not available it will take time to arrange & he agreed upon.

After two days I got the phone from the same part supplier that he has a battery coming for someone else’s order, if you want to test it you can come to my shop.

My face lit up with joy and I took the laptop and went to his shop.

I connected the new battery in laptop & turned on the laptop, laptop started Battery indicator showing 83% charged. Supplier told me to leave the laptop in On condition & if you have any work in the market you finish it & come back after 1hour.

His shop is very congested because of full of other material & accessories. I left the laptop in his shop as he is very old part supplier to me. I came back after 2 hrs. & seen laptop is still working. (I confirmed because user is having Lock screen password). Confirmed working of laptop with supplier I ordered the same battery for me.

I left the laptop in his shop for testing further battery lasting, Next day on arrival of battery I visited his shop again, He handed over new battery to me.

I replaced the battery in his shop but could not seat over there for more time because of rush in his shop.

Installed new battery after marking date of purchase on It.

I checked the working of the laptop and delivered it to the customer as his house was on the way. I asked him to turn on the laptop & keep it on till the battery drain completely & then put the laptop for full charging before use & I left from his place.

I got call from him day after that laptop is working fine on battery without any problem.

Indeed these batteries are causing many problems including the fact that they constantly keep making new models that no longer fit on older model laptops and only work with matching adapter on same laptop.
Good to hear that one of your part suppliers was able to help you out by testing the laptop with another identical new battery he already had ordered for another customer!

I hope the charger he uses for the laptops battery is ideal, we love referring to them as, 'original.' A bad charger may destroy a battery or the charging circuit component(s), or even the whole item. This is especially true for mobile phones. Though ordinary mobile phone batteries may mostly show signs of deteroriation after the second year of average use, laptop batteries which are charged more frequently should last almost the same length of time if not slightly more. Some battery chargers, charging circuits, batteries and what have you, may be destroyed in a charging process when lightening strikes. Well maintained car batteries with good alternators last just as long, two years of trouble-free operation. When they go bad some also swell,

When a battery charger that is in good working condition OVERHEATS while charging a battery, nine out of ten chances are that the battery being charged has grown sick and tired of service delivery.

Some batteries indicate when they are nearing the end of their dedicated service. This mostly manifests as an increased depreciation in their performance. But in other instanses a battery calls it quits even while in operation, or even while its still (brand)new. In such cases before you realize you have a dead battery you will have spent time and money unnecessarily on blamless issues. So some batteries may go faster than saying, "bai ! buy battery". Bye !
