What Is Transient?

A common cause of trouble is transient voltages on the AC power lines. Transients are instantaneous voltage spikes (high voltage short duration voltages). Transients can be commonly caused by lightning strikes or when electrical loads (electric motors) are switched on and off. These events can destroy electronic circuitry and corrupt stored data. In order to prevent the transient from reaching your electronic equipment you have to use an Unterruptible Power Supply (UPS) or surge suppressor with transient spike suppression.

By the way i’m having a 3 days basic electronic class for a 15 years old student and will post the photos to you tomorrow. I received another two testimonials from the buyers of my book Testing ElectronicComponents:

“Your testing methods are very useful for my work. Thanks for sharing so much.” John ChongSenior Field Application Engineer Singapore
