A massage therapist and a friend of mine brought this home LED light for repair. He has brought this same light before and I was able to get it fixed for him because it was only a bad power cord issue.

The top cover was already off when the customer brought it to my shop and you can see the specs in the photo.

These lights are very cheap in our country but for some reason the guy wanted to get it fixed and as soon as possible.

As I connected it to power, I could hear some buzzing noise coming out of the power supply which might indicate a bad power supply, bad LED lights or both.

With my LED light tester I applied power to the small ring of the LED light and as you can see in the photo; a few lights came on which is an indication of bad LED’s issue.

I did the same testing on the LED lights on the big ring and here I could see all the lights are up and running.

I called the customer and I informed him of the situation and he suggested to get rid of the small ring and just light up the big ring of lights. I told him it might work for a while but it might not last long. He was ok with that and based on that I started the modification on this LED light.

This was the simple modification that I did on this LED light but when I tried to power on the device, I could hear that buzzing noise again coming from inside the power supply so I opened the power supply for more investigations.

My suspicion was the capacitors on that board and when I did ESR checking on these capacitors two of the 47uf/160 volts were faulty.

I did not have the same size capacitors so I used big sized ones for testing. If everything tests fine then I will go and get the rights size parts and finish the repair.

I tested the light for about one hour and everything seems to be working fine. Now I have to make a special trip to the shop and get the right size capacitors.

Mission Accomplished.

Parasuraman: indeed my friend. The capacitors on the outside look new but ESR meters are the best in this kind of situations. have a blessed day

The only question that remains is why the customer wanted this heavily defective Light- counting the number of bad Leds - still fixed if they are so cheap he easily could have bought a brandnew one?

RODOLFO: there is no part number for the LED but I go by the pin formation on the bottom of the LED light and the size of the LED to make sure they are close in specs when soldering.
in my case I did not have to replace any LED lights I just took the small light ring off. have a blessed day
