A PS4 Slim With Overheating Repaired And Maintained
My nephew informed me about his PS4 slim that the fan was going loud with high pitch sound. Sometimes he gets an overheating warning on his TV but never went into shut down.
I think my nephew bought this about 7 years ago and it was time to be opened, cleaned and maintained.
I took the top cover off and when I looked on the other side of it I saw a lot of dirt and dust accumulating.
This is on the outside of the PS4 but I cannot imagine how bad it is going to be on the inside of the device; I guess we will find out soon.
I took the top plate off and exposed the mess beneath it but I guess it is not that bad yet as least.
As I am going deeper into this device I could see more dust and dirt.
Of course this has to be dusted, cleaned and maintained.
That is the APU and the thermal paste on it was really dry and almost gone off it; that is a very bad sign.
That is the heat sink on the other side of the APU and the paste on it was dry as well.
Finally I got to the worst spot that has the most dust and dirt.
I dusted off all the dust and dirt on the main board, cleaned and added fresh thermal paste to the APU cleaned this dirty vent and then I put everything back together so my son would give it a full test.
It was tested but time I was not able to take any photo since I was not with my son when he tested the device. The expert (my son) gave me the thumps up and it was time to call my nephew for pick up.
My nephew was so excited to get his PS4 slim back in great condition. I was so happy to see a big smile on his face and to that I could say
Mission Accomplished.

I am a bit envied against you as I am not able to get such sets from relatives like you keep getting! (LOL) Any chance we, technicians, get to do a service within the family circles is a thrill! I think dust and dry paste have become agents of income for us,but this time no income though.Well done friend.
