A Shorted Water Pressure Control Board Repaired and Maintained
A plumper brought me this device for repair. He said the board was not powering on. There are two LED lights on that board and none of them are coming on indication a fault on it and wanted to be fixed as soon as possible.
As seen, it is a very tiny board and it sits in big plastic water proof housing and once the board was taken out I could see a damaged part right away. It looks like a diode with part number B5934B.
I have not encountered such part number but when I checked it with a multi meter it showed that it was indeed shorted and needed a replacement.
The moment I de soldered this diode off board, the short was gone but I was facing with an issue which is the replacement of this part; I did not have it available in the shop.
I called the guy and I asked him if he has other boards that are faulty and I could extract that part of these boards and sure enough in less than an hour the customer called back and said that he has many boards. He brought many boards to the shop and I was lucky to find one that is intact so I proceeded with the repair.
Before I soldered the part back on board, I checked around for any faulty parts and found everything within specs so it was time to bring this board back to life.
The board was alive again and I could see the two LED lights on and steady but one more check that has to be done.
I was getting the right voltage on the output pins of the board and that was a very good sign.
I called the customer; he picked up the device and later on he called and said that the board was up and running.
