About Bulged Capacitor

By on April 8, 2008

Normally one of the most common problem found in electronic board are bulged capacitors. Electrolytic capacitor bulge problem is very frequent in Computer Motherboard and usually after the replacement the motherboard will work perfectly okay. Do you know that a non polarity capacitor such as metallized polyester and mica capacitor also can become bulge?

capacitor

Yes, but the problem is not as obvious compares to electrolytic and it is more like a small hum. That means you have to carefully see it from top and at the side. Sometimes it is advisable to remove the whole board from the casing so that you can have a better view of the components be it on capacitors or others such as transistor, resistors, diodes or even flyback transformer.
