lcd tv no dsiplay repaired

This Changhong LCD TV came in for repair with the complaint of no picture but have sound. In fact when you look closely at the screen you will be able to see the backlight was lighted. There can be few causes of such problem.

Instead of guessing what might be the cause, I opened the TV cover and checked on the power supply DC output voltages. All DC output voltages were found to be correct.

The next check was on the T-con board IC (AUO -11303) and the cable connection. I reheated the T-con IC and reseated the cable (and cleaned the connector) and the problem turned out to be the same. When I turned the TV On, I could only saw the backlight lighted without any picture-see the three photos below:

backlight have display but no picture

Next step was to replace  the AUO-11303 IC directly and retest it.

After the replacement of the IC, the picture came back-see the photo below:

no display in lcd tv fixed

Conclusion- If the power supply DC output voltages are good then focus on the Tcon board. Check the VCC supply to the Tcon board IC and make sure the IC is not too hot  to be touched and reheat it.

If the problem still not resolved then direct replace the IC and retest it. If after the replacement of the IC and still not be able to repair it, the next step would be to find out the service manual and start checking the important signals pin in the T-con board.

Fixing modern TV's is troublesome. They don't have a simple OBD diagnostics scanner like in Cars that have the CAN bus that can point us in the right direction. Although we have the RT809H programmer that we can use, they are quite useless in cases like these where a controller chip is defect. Only a pro can fix these without a service manual at hand!

Strange coincidence is that I had a similar problem that I could solve with the guidance from my expert friends. Shall post article, when it is made ready. In my case it was CM501 IC, datasheet of which was not available.

    Anyhow, good job, Suranga!

congratulations on a job well done. I had the same issues with Sanui TV and it was the IC that was causing the problem. sad to say even with new IC's bought off the net, there are a lot of them that are defective but we keep trying till we get it right. keep up the good work my friend and have a blessed day

Actually this not a comment. A doubt.
I have a Samsung LED TV, Model No. UA32H5500. When switched on some lines are coming vertically or horizontally. Some times up side or down side, left side or right side like that. What are the causes. I am not an expert in LED TV's. Can you help.

Check the T-con/Scaler Board voltages, like VGH, VGL, VCOM, VDD and AVDD. If these are not normal, check for its supply voltage, usually 12V and its filter caps. If these are all normal, the problem lies in the cof connector and/or panel. That requires expert maneuvering of the X-Y array!
