Beware These Types Of Email

By on September 10, 2009

junkmail

Recently i got lots of  junk mails. Some are very convincing and i almost click on the zip file that these spammers included in the mail. I do not know what would happen if i click and downloaded the file they provided. It could be virus in it or some other programs that could steal away all of your personal info. Below are two example of the junk mail:

Hello!

Unfortunately we failed to deliver your postal package sent on the 24th of June in time
because the addressee’s address is wrong. Please print out the invoice copy attached and collect the package at our office.

United Parcel Service.

and

Hello!
Unfortunately we were not able to deliver the package which was sent on the 27th of June in time because the addressee’s address is wrong. Please print out the invoice copy attached and collect the package at our office.

United Parcel Service.

Now, why i suspect those are junk mails? Because i have no account with the United Parcel Service (UPS) besides if my items can’t be delivered, surely i will be informed within a week by my courier agent.  If you look at the date, it was 24th and 27th June! It was more than 2 and a half month!

I wander how many of you often get these types of junk mails?

    Hi Jestine
You did right by not opening those e-mails..
All of that type of e-mail here in the states have a virus or spyware in it, and it has increased in the last few months of this year..
Right now one of the worse things here is this Green AV virus or trogan.
It is a pop up that claims they will send some of the money to a good cause if you buy their product,,dont believe it,,the web site looks very professional and even some of the pop up's that tell you to run their process to clean you computer looks real,,they are not ! and it is very hard to remove from you computer..
If you type in anything in your browser when you get this virus it will not allow you on the internet,,it will take someone that knows computers to remove it..
Look up ' remov green av ' on google and you will see what i am talking about..
I work on computers almost ever day and had trouble removing the Greenav.exe from three of the work computers..So do as you did,,dont open anything like you recieved..
If i order anything from one of those providers i keep a copy of the company and the date we ordered it and a contact number with how tey will ship it on file next to the main computer to verify such data, we get so much of this type of e-mail here in the states that keeping a hard copy or log is mandatory..
Take care...Keep up the good work..Wes.
    log of such

I get junk email all the time. Most of the time I just delete and go. I did get hit with an email about changing my ebay information. I clicked the link log into my ebay account and made the change. I week later, I got an email from ebay telling me that someone had used my account to sale some products. They caught it quick and all I had to do was verify some information and change my password. My advice is if you are unsure about an email, just delete it.

    HI Sina,

All these are ebooks and not hard copy books.

I often get these, but always check the wording on Google before I open anything. I also usually mark these as "Phishing" but am not sure if this makes a difference anywhere, ever.
