Blue Tooth Speaker That Does Not Charge Repaired. Model JBL
A German manager for an organization nearby brought me his blue tooth speaker for repair and the main complaint was it does not charge. The moment I held it in my hand I could hear something rattling inside assuming it was the loose charging port.
I took the top cover off and I could see the missing charging port. The main problem with this charging port; it was not available at that moment in my shop. I have plenty of different charging ports but not this one.
I informed the customer and he was willing to wait for it. I made the order off Aliexpress and waited, waited and waited; I did not get it till the middle of March. That was not expected to wait this long because I usually it my orders within two to three weeks max but this time it lasted more than two months.
This is the charging port that was rattling inside the speaker and finally I was able to get this thing fixed and send back to the customer who was waiting patiently for it.
I got twenty of these charging ports for just over 10 dollars and they were worth the wait because the quality was good and I was impressed with it.
All the soldering pads were in good conditions; I was happy to see that.
Usually when a charging port gets ripped it takes with it a lot of traces and sometime the soldering pads.
This photo compares between the bad and the good charging port; take a look.
The good charging port was soldered back on board. I connected the board back to the speaker but I was not ready to put everything back till I made sure that it was charging.
I connected the charging cable to the speaker and right away I could see the charging light flashing on and off which is an indication of a charge in progress.
That is the finish product and the customer was more than happy to get his speaker back and paid generously for the repair.
Mission Accomplished.

These female microUSB charger input jacks indeed are easily damaged. Soldering the 5 pins back to the board is likely the hardest part. Although for charging probably only the 2 outer pins are used to provide the 5V DC voltage. I also bought complete sets of different microUSB female 'ports'. And recently used 2 of those microUSB input jacks to make a couple of Jim Williams avalanche pulse generators.
