DC Adapter Indicator Light Correction
Adapter brought to me by one carpenter, he was using it to charge some Battery operated tool. Stating LED Indicator light on adapter was not visible.
Found very tiny pin hole, but is does not like any LED there. I connected the adapter on power & found if you look very carefully, you can see it. I assumed either LED or dropdown resistor is bad. I opened the Adapter, it has only Plastic Locks so pry it from cable side is easy using flat screwdriver.
Opening the adapter, I found the LED is far away from the top cover because it is mounted on the PCB.
I connected the adapter on the power to see if LED working fine. I found LED is working fine but because there is gap between LED & top cover pin hole hence Light is not visible from the pin hole.
So I decide to bring the LED on the top cover.
Soldered the wires on PCB & On PCB.
Now widen the hole on top cover & inserted the LED in the top cover & applied superglue so that it holds the LED.
There is a way to identify polarity of the LED Pins.
On PCB you can easily find which side is grounded using Multimeter in Beep mode.
Now reassembled the adapter after modification.

Nice fix Yogesh, for a rather unexpected design flaw in this dc adapter. Where normally some sort of glass extender would have transfered the led light to the top of the case to close the gap.

Albert,
I also looked for clear plastic/acrylic to extend the light beam, but couldn't find it in my junk box, so I ultimately just extended the LED.

Fine solution. I would have done the same but Im confused about the LED's function / the customer's complaint. Does the LED stay lit 100% of the time when the adapter is connected to the mains? Or does it only light up when it's charging something? Im not sure why the customer would bother getting this repaired if, other then the LED not being visible, the adapter was functioning properly and providing power.

Tayo,
This adapter is specially designed for the battery charging, when it charging the battery, the LED remains ON and when the battery is fully charged, the LED goes off. Here the customer was confused whether the adapter is turning ON or not as the LED was barely visible.

Thanks! Mark J,
Do not struggle to open the adapter, you will find Many articles on this blog where very simple tips are provided, but if you are not sure just cut the Adapter by joining middle line using mini Hacksaw, open the adapter do the work then rejoin it using Cable tie or the Glue.
