I suggest that you print out this images of CRT TV/Monitor display problems for reference. To some beginners, they do not know how a pincushion or a keystone distortion problem look like. It is important to know these images so that you will know which section to check when you test the CRT TV/Monitor with a test colour pattern program or generator. Hi Francis,
Without hands on assessment to perform the voltage/signal test, I would not really know what would be the actual cause.

Hello sir,
My CRT TV is not working.. anode high voltage is coming,crt base r,g, b voltage also ok. But tv screen is in off position. When i adjusted flyback transformer knobs then white colour came on the screen. But no grains.. Please help me sir..

Hi sir, my LG 15 inch crt monitor screen size horizontally has shrinken.
From the both side almost 1.5 inch. From setting I put it 100. Virtual size is ok, no problem. A local mechanic said it might be flyback transformer, but original one is not available. Could it be other problem? Thanks

Hi Md Nazmul,
If you get a non original flyback it can cause such problem. If the B+ voltage is good, safety capacitor value is within range and modulation diode/pincushion transistor is good then it can be the flyback.

My flyback is original. Crt never repaired since 2005. How much should be the B+ voltage?

Hi MD Nazmul,
Normal B+ voltage should be 110 vdc. Some designs may be higher.

got an old crt pc monitor.when switched on there is no display(brightness) nor any osd message.after some 5 mins brightness shows up gradually after heating up.any idea what may be the cause?

Hi Praveen,
It could be due to weak pc tube or the heater voltage is low due to bad e-cap.

Many factors such as bad power supply, bad flyback, bad Microprocessor or eeprom IC data, and etc.

Samsung tv power supply ok no osd and retrace line all voltage regulator ok. On neck ic for rgb replased vertical ic and related capacitors replaced what could problem? Pl guide me

Hi sir i have a problem to my crt sharp tv 21 inch no display and no sound if i turn on the tv the red light is on then i turn on the remote the sounds like ok then after a second theres no happen then the filament has no light...the horizontal transistor is ok...plz help me sir

My neibour sent Hisense TV for repair. Model number TC2100SA. TV not coming on after lightning struck. I first cleaned board with brush. I started looking bulge cps, burned resistors, and other power supply.lfound the following parts burn=IC wc8705,cap 150uf 450v,cap220uf 160v,cap47uf 250v,cap1uf 50v,cap333 and R569,R718 and five diodes (RI57 MCI). Weird one, here... 1992 Sony Trinitron KV27EXR 20. On TV mode, static fills the screen... Hook a console up to it (via RF, S-Video or Composit RCA) there's slight keystoning. I cleaned about 26 years of dust out of it, but if course that didn't help. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hi Sajjad,
It could be missing heater voltage, too low the G2 voltage, G1 voltage could be improper, no high voltage, bad Video pre-amp IC and etc.

Hi Teddy,
The screen problem might be due to lack of B+ voltage, dry joint or bad components in the horizontal linearity circuit. The sound could mean the flyback have problem.

i have a an old crt computer monitor that switches on shows a "no signal video cable connected" message then it goes back to sleep /idle as if its vga cable is not connected to anything even though it is ,its OSD don't show up when i click the menu button during that brief message,the monitor was fried trough its vga cable by a faulty computer psu that also fried another LCD that someone fixed for me

Hi, my crt tv samsung is a litle stretched on the sides, when im playng retrogames, as the object goes moves from the center to the left or right it stretchs, it can be solved on sercice menu? How can i fid this? Thank.

how R U? am from Ethiopia my question is I have Samsung 21 Crt tv unfortunately after the drops down of the tv is not able to deliver sound and picture except blinking of starting power but the screen is still black. I open the cover but nothing is broken. so what i shall do to fix this problem and what you advice me as a technician?

Hi Abdu,
I'm fine thanks. In your case you need to check if there is any hairline cracks. Power blinking can be due to many reasons. I suggest thhat you make sure the power supply produce good and stable output first before check on other parts. No picture can be due to the flyback not energized or even broken picture tube.

Good day engr jestinyong, I'm Joseph from Lagos Nigeria. I have 29" crt tv. The picture is not full by the left and right side top.i have changed the complete tv panel board but still same problem, please guard me.
