Fit A Universal Board And Saved This Samsung LED TV Picked Up From Scrap Yard
I happened to pick up a Samsung LED TV from a scrap yard for a cheap rate. When I opened the set and looked inside, I saw that the mother board had suffered a lightning attack and was burnt:
The power supply board had rust eaten jumper wires and components.
I replaced the jumper wires and defective components on the board after checking primary using ring tester and checking the other components on the board. Then when I applied the power, I got 13V and 5V outputs and the backlight were also ok. In most of the Samsung LED TVs, the power supply and backlight will get on automatically without connecting to the mother board.
Then I used a Universal Board U11 and checked whether the panel was ok. Got the following result, which showed a couple of lines, which did not hamper view. You are seeing Samsung, as I selected the TV model from the built in option. (In order to enter into service mode and make such changes, we may have to follow the input numbers written on the box)
After ensuring that the panel was ok, I fit the universal board wiring the power in, standby and power on connections from the power supply. (This board will stand up to 13.5V and there was no issue in feeding 13V to this) Bought two new speakers, as the set was not having it. The power on indication and IR was provided using its own PCB, by modifying the tracks to suit the need. As the stand of the TV was also missing, I used its vacant place to snugly fit the Universal board and wire it through the hole to inside. I am explaining these as though the work was easy, but in practice it is a laborious and time consuming job with a lot of CAREFUL wiring do be done joining connectors.
But there is a thrill attached to such works undertaken and that was the driving force in this case also. It is like assembling something new, which surely is a deviation from our usual trouble shooting and service work, that often becomes boring. Especially, when there are no new problems, the work becomes boredom and we just tend to go through the motions!
I fixed the back cover of the Universal board and then blanked open holes with black tape to prevent curious lizards and cockroaches, which might convert it as its haven. The TV was put on for several hours continuously for three days before disposing it to a customer, who bought it. I got a small margin, which would cover my cost. Mission accomplished with great satisfaction of a different kind getting added:
The above picture is a print screen that I took from the video of the TV.
In my excitement, I forgot to click a few more snaps of various steps and stages.

Sadly dear Parasuraman, you also lost me at: "Then I used a Universal Board U11 and checked whether the panel was ok. Got the following result, which showed a couple of lines, which did not hamper view. You are seeing Samsung, as I selected the TV model from the built in option. (In order to enter into service mode and make such changes, we may have to follow the input numbers written on the box)".
You are obviously used to use these advance technical terms but they do not explain to us TV laymans what that means. And neither any photo of the mentioned Board 11 or the exact done operation. So reading it was no help at all!

Oh! Dear! I had already written a few articles about using U11 Universal Boards and that is why I did not repeat it here. Kindly see one of them here: https://jestineyong.com/fitting-a-universal-board-and-inverted-in-lg-tv-model-32ln5100/
Hope that helps. Moreover, these Universal Boards are very commonly used by many technicians and there are a number of videos on Youtube too.
Anyhow, many thanks for your comments, keen observation and feedback.

Apparently this type of universal TV 11 board is only sold in Indian countries? Because finding that same board on Aliexpress seems impossible. Other type of TV boards are available like DVB-T2 boards but those are maybe not the same as the here used universal 11 TV board? So that's why this article keeps its many unexplained hidden secrets!

There are many like this. Perhaps using its full name T5611-** might help you. But these are called U11 boards. I gave the search only using this (U11) and got the above results.
