Flyback Transformer Primary Winding
For those of you who has the flyback transformer tester, it is a great advantage that you can test the primary winding of the flyback. Do you know that sometimes it may not be 100% accurate because some flyback transformer can breakdown when under full load. If you use the dick smith flyback tester toi test on a flyback, a good winding would show about 8 LED bars for a 14 and 15″ CRT Monitor. From the result you might have thought that the primary winding is good but in reality there is a chances it can go bad when the Monitor power switch is “On”.
In order to know if the flyback transformer primary winding is good or bad you have to make sure that all of the surrounding components test okay and the B+ voltage is correct. That means if all of the above tested okay (including the primary winding) and the CRT Monitor still shutdown or power blink when power “On” possibility is high the primary winding breakdown when under full operating voltage.
The best solution is to use a working flyback transformer from another set and i’ve mentioned before “The best test equipment to test a flyback transformer is the equipment itself”. The equipment itself will test all of the output voltages the flyback generated and etc!

Usually all these information is well kept in the factory and different flyback need different power to drive it.

My problem is as under
*where is looketed horizental osciltor ic in crt monitors and how can i cheak it.
*how can i find G1 pin in bottom of flyback(in pcb).

HI Altaf,
Horizontal oscillator IC normally located in the center or the bottom of the board and some typical part number are TDA4855, TDA4858, TDA9105 and etc. To check this IC you need a scope to measure the output driver waveform. But of course you have to make sure it has supply first.
As for the G1, look at the flyback pin where it goes to a diode (cathode side) then at the anode side there is a e-cap where the positive pin is connected to cold ground.

In order to accelerate the electrons to hit on the phosphor. The phosphor will light once it had been hit by electrons.

but...
what should i do with the other pins?
sometimes spark occured between them.
especialy some closest pins with ground pin.
one of pin closest is also draws purple spray, but never spark

please i need your assistance on flyback transformer. my school project needs to be power from high dc power unit which i need to design myself. i need flyback to design this high voltage. i have gotten ferrite core from old tv. i need to wind this transformer myself but i don't have information about number of turns for both primary and secondary. my input voltage is 12v and secondary is 5000v switching frequency is 50khz. i will supply you more information if you wish. lagunna788@yahoo.com

Sorry i do not have those info because I'm just a repairer and not a designer. I suggest that you search from the net for the word "Tesla coil" and try to search if there is any forum on that and they are very good in making their own high voltage gadget.
