How To Remove The Silicone In The Circuit Board

By on September 8, 2010

silicone

Usually i would scrap off the silicone layer and use thinner to clean it but it will take me lots of time to do it especially the boards that have lots of components in it like the automobile control ECU board and etc. I believe there must be some fast way to remove such thing from the circuit board. If you have the way to do it i guess the blog readers would be really appreciate about this-thanks!

I use Goof Off. It is a strong paint remover and will solve plastic if left on long enough. Try it on scrap circuit board first.

Silicon Be Gone softens old silicone for easy removal and should be safer although I have not tried it.

I once worked on Cordless Drill battery charger and the whole PC was sitting in silicon and i had to scrape everything off with a sharp nife..it worked fine but like you said Justine, it takes a long time to do that. I liked what Beh suggested..and I hope to finds something like this in my home town.

    Sir, Jestine

I generally use and satisfied with Petrol in order to clean silicon or glue from the circuit. Sometimes when i need to wash PCB or assembled components, than i use Iso-Propile and Petrol mixture.

    Thanks you
