I’ve got an email from one of my ERG member that mentioned about intermittent Crystal problem:

“I have been repairing home tv & monitors for over 30 years. I’am never too old to learn. I had a very difficult and intermittent repair on a Neotec NT-500 monitor. I spent a lot of time on it. Talked to Neotec tech support twice. Still no fix. Than I read your news letter on microprocessors. A light went off when you talked about a crystal being intermittent. never new it could happen. Never thought the crystal might be bad, but it was. Thanks to you I got on the right course. Unit now working Fine. Thank you.”

Well if you come across some intermittent problem in your electronic equipment and you have replaced the Microcontroller, EEprom, checked surrounding circuit then its time to direct replace the Crystal and retest the set again.
