After reading your book, I was able to test the CCFL's on a Sylvania 32 inch TV and found a burnt coil on the "buffer" board. I just had happened to buy an entire stock of electronics from a place that went out of business,, and I found the part I needed in all that stuff(I got really lucky on that business purchase,, 5 van loads and 6 trailer loads,,,, TONS of electronics, file cabinets, work bench, display cases, T%V's, Flat screens, Test equipment, DVD players, Home stereos, DVD cameras,,on and on,, all for 400 bucks)
THEN,, I was working on a SANYO DP42647 and found that It needed a new logic board since all it would do was flash the green LED,,, I ordered that board,, and finally got sound after I installed it but no picture, then I checked the Screen with a flashlight at just the right angle and it was fine,, so then I moved on to the "buffer" board since it seemed It was a back light problem. What I found was a simple fuse no bigger than a few grains of sand labeled "20",, There was no continuity, So I Jumped it with a small piece of solder to test it and COOL,, the TV came on!
I have had a few other successes with the TV's I got in that purchase and now have 5,,, 5!!!,, TV's working out of the 15 broken flat tv's I got.

HI Ben,
That was a good success rate and 400 bucks was very cheap!
